Record 4,400 athletes compete in Tokyo 2020: Paralympic schedule, dates confirmed.






The setting for a summer festival has set up, consisting of record 4,400 athletes, 540 gold medals in 22 sports will be up for grabs at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which will be held at 21 venues in Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba and Shizuoka prefectures.



 The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) has confirmed the event line-up for each session of the Paralympic Games, which will be held from 25 August to 6 September 2020.

 Taekwondo and Badminton are one of the main sports making its Paralympic debut at Tokyo 2020.

Overall 300 sessions, 108 will include medal events, The latest sessions in 19 out of the 22 sports are scheduled to finish before 10pm local time.

 On 26 August 2020,
one day after the Opening Ceremony, the first medallists of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games will be determined; they will be in the women's cycling track (time trial) C1-2-3 3000m pursuit, which will take place in Shizuoka prefecture.
On the same day, medallists will be determined in a total of 24 events, including 16 swimming events, 4 wheelchair fencing events, and 4 cycling (track) events.


 30 August 2020 will be 63 medal events being held — the most of any day during the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.

On this day 20 final events in athletics,
4 in triathlon,
4 in mixed rowing,
13 swimming finals,
and 5 judo final events.

The wheelchair rugby final will be held from 6pm and hopes that Japan host nation’s team, the current world champions, might make it through to contend gold.


 On 1 September 2020, there will be no fewer than 61 medal events. Fans will enjoy watching traditional sports like athletics and swimming events throughout; these are scheduled for all but two of the 12 days of the Games.

Athletics will feature the largest number of individual events at the Games, and all athletics sessions will include finals, resulting in 168 medal events.



3 - 5 September 2020,
 Badminton and taekwondo make their debut in newly Paralympic Games 2020.
The first-ever Paralympic badminton medallists will be determined on 5 and 6 September, while the medal events for taekwondo game will be held during 3 – 5 September.

Wheelchair tennis will take place on 4 and 5 September...


 On 6 September, the closing day of the Paralympic Games, a total of 15 final events will be held in badminton,
men’s wheelchair basketball,
women’s sitting volleyball,
athletics marathon
and shooting.

The last medal session of the Games—men's wheelchair basketball—will take place at 10am that day.
