Yankees, Dodgers, Sox leads, List of Most Valuable MLB Teams

Yankees, Dodgers, Sox leads Forbes, List of Most Valuable MLB Teams 2019

Forbes estimates the New York Yankees are baseball's most valuable franchise in Baseball at $4.6 billion, up 15 percent from its figure last year.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are second at $3.3 billion, followed by the World Series champion Boston Red Sox at $3.2 billion, the Chicago Cubs ($3.1 billion), San Francisco Giants ($3 billion) and the New York Mets ($2.3 billion).

Forbes' franchise values list released Wednesday estimates Miami is the least valuable team at $1 billion, just behind Tampa Bay ($1.01 billion).

Yankees leads in List of Most Valuable MLB Teams 2019, Teams Profit, Revenue.

The New York Yankees are the most valuable team ($4.6 billion) and had local revenue of $712 million last year, the most in MLB and more than the bottom six teams (Miami Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals, Cincinnati Reds and Baltimore Orioles) had combined. The Dodgers ($3.3 billion), Boston Red Sox ($3.2 billion), Chicago Cubs ($3.1 billion) and San Francisco Giants ($3 billion) round out the list of teams worth at least $3 billion.

The Miami Marlins are No. 29 on the list at $1 billion, which is $200 million less than Jeffrey Loria sold them for last August.

Forbes explained how the Marlins' value could eventually exceed the team's $1.2 billion sale price:

The only franchise with a valuation of less than $1 billion is the Tampa Bay Rays ($900 million).

Other notable franchise valuations include the New York Mets in sixth place ($2.3 billion) and the defending World Series champion Houston Astros at No. 11 ($1.65 billion).

The Oakland Athletics, who are 26th in value, generated the least revenue last season at $210 million.

By comparison, the Yankees' $619 million in revenue during the 2017 campaign was $97 million more than any other team.
