Islamabad: The fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 drafting was held, in which Lahore Qalandar selected former South African captain AB de Villiers and all-rounder, Muhammad Hafeez.
In the event of Islamabad, 6 franchisees of Pakistan Super League chose names for 633 domestic and foreign players for their own team.
The event includes Peshawar Zalmai, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandar, Islamabadabad, Quetta Gladiators and Sixth Team (former Multan Sultans), whose new name has not yet been announced.
Drafting players were divided into Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Emerging Categories.
It is clear that many prominent foreign cricketers in Pakistan Super League are participating for the first time in 2019 PSL, including AB de Villiers, Australia's Steven Smith, and Korey Anderson of New Zealand, who have been placed in the Platinum category.
Drafting of the players for the fourth season of PSL 2019 has been completed, after which teams' squad has been Finalised.
According to the Pakistan Super League rules, every 16-member squad consists of platinum, diamond and gold grade 3.33, while 5 silver and 2 emerging cricketers are included, after the trading window was closed, every franchise was allowed to keep at least 10 players, However, everyone made the final decision according to their convenience on November 13 and added 8 to 10 list.
Franchise failed to pay an annual fee of US $ 5.2 million after the Pakistan Cricket Board's ownership rights of Multan Sultans ended. The team has been referred to as 'Sixth team' in such a way.
Title holders Islamabad maintained 10 players, so they selected six more from the draft. Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandar, Peshawar Zalmai and 'Sixth Team' maintained eight players by each and choose another eight in the draft. Quetta's Gladiators picked seven more players to join their nine retained players.
